Maths Week 2017

maths-week-2017

Maths Week: 14th to 22nd of October 2017

We will celebrate Maths Week at school with a special focus on FUN MATHS activities including a Maths Trail. We will also encourage children to use their MATHS EYES –
to look out for Maths in their environment and every day lives.

Talk to the children about how Maths is used in every day activities at home such as shopping (money, price per kg), speed and distance (car speedometer, distance signposts), baking and cooking (weight and liquid measures), time, fractions (dividing up a cake or pizza), multiplication (how much will it cost for 6?) etc. Making Maths real helps children to learn mathematical concepts more easily in the classroom.
