We are delighted to receive an ICT grant of just under €3,000 this month from the Department of Education and Skills. The school will invest this money in replacing some older laptops and by purchasing additional laptops for our students.
Our goal is for every student to have access to a laptop to enhance their learning. Typically our students use their laptops to type stories or reports, to create PowerPoint presentations, to conduct research, to listen to audiobooks and to access learning support software. In the process students are developing essential computer literacy skills.
All school laptops are fitted with child cyber security software and the Schools’ Broadband service provides a firewall to all social media websites and filters online content. Use of ICT in school is supervised.
